Support for Students amid Supreme Court Equality Act Ruling
On the 16th of April the Supreme Court ruled that, under the Equality Act, the definition of woman is limited to those born ‘biologically female’. The media and political establishment have taken this as an opportunity to promote hatred. We do not agree with this. All trans identities are valid, and they should not be politicised.
As a representative body, the JCR will do its best to ensure that the interests of all JCR members are represented, and that our trans students feel they belong to a safe and supportive environment.
We will continue to advocate for the student body, and in the coming weeks and months will be focusing on promoting the welfare of our LGBTQ+ community.
